Biography

Before I retrained as an ESOL teacher, my experience in non-compulsory learning environments was varied: art at a summer camp, drama at an LGBT+ camp, craft projects at youth hostels, EfL summer schools and life classes at hen parties!

I originally envisioned myself working within HE, however the more experience I gained in FE, the more I fell in love with its diversity and holistic values.

Now I get the opportunity to collaborate with, support and champion other practitioners and as such, I feel I have found my fit in FE. I’m particularly passionate about amplifying practitioner voices via PDN and developing the digital literacies of learners of any age or stature!

My specialisms are: art, drama, ESOL, English and digital. I have QTLS and I’m currenrtly undertaking the ATS (Advanced Teacher Status) process.

Whilst my generic job title is ‘Creative Development Officer’, I have many roles and responsibilities on our different projects, including: project officer, social media + comms officer, project lead (PDN), resource design, trainer, curriculum design and mentor.

Something Personal

I volunteer for my second family NATECLA as Chair for the NorthWest branch and as a member of their Management Council.

We live in Liverpool with our 2 cats Ripley and Nancy, and our baby girl Artemis.

I’m passionate about the rights of refugees, women and girls and the LGBT community.
