Fractions, Decimals, Percentages and Proportion

Welcome

This session will introduce you a range of teaching strategies for engaging your learners into more complex associations involving fractions, equivalences and proportionality linked to the new Functional Skills Mathematics specifications.

Session outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Examine the place of fraction, decimals and related number concepts in the Functional Skills Subject Content
  • Analyse learner mistakes and misconceptions
  • Consider different ways of reacting to learner misconceptions
  • Use and evaluate bar modelling and ratio tables.
