Professional Development

Would you like to undertake an Award, a Certificate or a Diploma in education and training? We work closely with our partner, CETTa, to run initial teacher training courses that meet your specific needs. You might be interested in undertaking some Practitioner-Led Action Research (PLAR) and, if you choose, working towards accreditation in Action Research at Level 5. Find out more about the national PLAR programme we co-led below and contact us if you would like to discuss accredited programmes.

Initial Teacher Training

Our close partners, CETTacademy (CETTa), powered by the East Midlands Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (emCETT), provide initial teacher training (ITT) at levels 3 to 6. Working in partnership with CETTa, we offer bespoke ITT courses to meet your needs (for example, you can do an optional unit in Action Research or in GCSE English Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy). Together with CETTa, we can support you to achieve Awards, Certificates and Diplomas in Education and Training.

Vocational Revitalisers

One day courses to support English and/ or maths learning and development in vocational areas. Vitalisers will help vocational practitioners to identify and develop English and/or maths embedded in their subject area, and introduce techniques to develop their learners’ confidence and abilities. These courses help practitioners understand that, by doing things in a different way, they can help learners improve their English and/or maths at the same time as developing vocational skills.

Practitioner-led Research

As part of our successful partnership with emCETT, Summations and Touchconsulting to lead a national 2-year practitioner-led action research programme, we continue to work together to offer L5 Action Research and Action Learning accredited courses. Practitioners learn about practitioner-led action research and choose a research topic, from their practice, that matter to them. Past candidates have focussed on topics such as; supporting learners with specific learning difficulties and digital learning approaches.
